A group of Lavender Lovers looks on as Chef Michael Collins demonstrates the many
uses of lavender in cooking, during the Culinary Lavender Festival held each year
at the Green Emporium
Our annual lavender culinary event began six years ago, when
we added a month of cooking with lavender and herbs to our collection
of events at the restaurant. This year's event, Lavender Lovers
2004, will kick off on June 25 & 26 and will continue throughout
the month of July 2004. We've designed this event to coincide
with the Franklin County Lavender Tour, so that more lavender
lovers can enjoy our restaurant. During this month, people will
come from near and far to participate in our demos, sample our
lavender-based lunches, delight in our lavender dinners and tour
our beautiful native garden. Now, they can take our line of lavender
products home with them, as well as other exciting lavender items
produced by local farmers, food artisans and crafters. All these
products and more are constantly being added to this site, so
bookmark us and check back often.
Chef Michael
Collins, co-owner and chef of the Green Emporium, will team with
Tinky "Dakota" Weisblat, author of
The Pudding Hollow Cookbook to present a free demo on
cooking with lavender and herbs. They will be preparing something
special from her cookbook. After the presentation, Tinky will
be holding a book signing and will be available for questions
about her cookbook.
Following
the cooking demonstration, we will serve a special, moderately-priced
lavender luncheon accompanied by live medieval flute music. Included
in our lunch will be our now-famous
lavender
pizza (focaccia) featured in the June 2003 issue of Yankee
magazine, sandwiches, salads, other lavender seasoned dishes,
and for dessert homemade lavender ice cream and homemade Italian
lemon lavender ice. Check lunch
menu. Be sure to take in our beautiful native garden during
or after lunch.
To begin your weekend or top off the day, especially for culinary
aficionados and those planning to stay overnight at local bed
and breakfasts and inns, the Green Emporium will serve dinner!
We will launch our 6th annual month-long Lavender Lovers 2004"Cooking
with Lavender and Herbs" dinner series, with specialties
featuring lavender. Check our Lavender
Lovers Dinner 2004 Menu. During dinner on Saturday the 26th,
local diva Tinky "Dakota" Weisblat, accompanied by Jack
Ramey on piano, will present “If They Asked Me, I Could
Write a Book”.

In our resturant during
lunch and dinner, you'll find select Lavender Lovers products,
featuring lavender and herb products including jellies and jams,
vinegars, marinades, salad dressings, herbal mixes and rubs.
